Akure Community

This community became a reality in 1983, with a Parish and Marian Shrine known as Mary Help of Christians. The community has a Parish, an Oratory, Youth Animation Center, a Pre-Novitiate Formation House, a Printing Press and Multimedia Centre, an online radio, and a Health Centre. Prior to its movement to the Ondo Community, JOBITECH (The Technical School) used to be in Akure, but in its place, there’s a computer training Centre and a Continuous Education Centre.

The Parish works well with the Diocese and it hosts the Bishop annually every Good Friday. It is also known for its wonderful choir and energetic youths in the CYON body. In the Oratory, children and youths have access to a playground, a games room, several outdoor sports, a music room, and a library. The Pre-Novitiate Formation House has formed four sets of Pre-Novices and each year, runs from October to June.

The Don Bosco Visuals and Prints serves as a combination of a functioning printing press, photography studio, video studio, and media training centre. It works hand in hand in disseminating information and serving the public on their need for services related to these. The Don Bosco Online Radio is also found in the Akure Community, and the studio is handled by the youths, with a bulk of its presenters being youths. The Health Centre majorly caters to the health needs of the public, with its affordable laboratory services and pharmacy.
