Onitsha Community

The realization of the Don Bosco dream in Onitsha began on the 31st of January 1989 (The Feast of Don Bosco). The community in Onitsha has an Oratory, a Youth Centre, a Secondary School with boarding house and a Technical Institute. To pursue its objective of developing young people, the building of the Salesian community and multipurpose hall (which became the first workshop for training of youths), were built in May 1990.

In August 29, 1991, the community moved to the new building called the Don Bosco Youth Centre. Some young people were enrolled for technical and skill training program in Electrical Installation and Welding. In 1996, the school graduated the first set of students who were trained in the Centre. Since then, the Centre has grown and the works continue to expand with more infrastructure, departments and a new secondary school. Over the years, so many students have graduated from the school with good skills, quality education and good morals.

Courses offered in John Bosco Technical School Onitsha are Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Electronics Engineering, Computer Information Technology, Office Technology and Management.

Other facilities in the community include a Secondary school, an Aspirantate, Skill Acquisition Centre, Youth Centre, and a Chaplaincy.
