Catholic Church of the Archangels Gaduwa Celebrates Laity Week

The Catholic Church of the Archangels, Gaduwa, Abuja, hosts the much-anticipated 2025 Laity Week, organised by the Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria. Running from March 16th to March 23rd, 2025, this year’s theme is “Upholding & Promoting the Liturgy Among Catholics.”

The week-long event featured a rich lineup of activities, starting with the unveiling of a manual on Day 1. Thought-provoking discussions followed on topics such as The Power of Prayer (Day 2), Human Vulnerability and the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Day 3), Private Ministries in the Catholic Church: A Threat to Unity? (Day 4), Challenges of the Laity as Co-Missionaries of Evangelisation (Day 5), and Engaging the Laity in Understanding and Following Traditional Practices and the Liturgy of the Church (Day 6).

On Day 7, participants carried out corporal works of mercy, embodying the mission of the Church to serve those in need. The event concluded with a Grand Finale and fundraising ceremony on Day 8.

The first two speakers of the week include High Chief Rose Emma-Okolo, Parish Laity Council President, and Mr. Uchenna Nwokebelu, a catechist of the parish. The Church warmly invited all members and well-meaning individuals to participate in this spiritually enriching program.
